ICC numerus

Der Internationale Strafgerichtshof (ICC) in Den Haag verhandelt Kernverbrechen des Völkerstrafrechts. Die audiovisuelle Installation ICC numerus untersucht die performativen Prozesse, die die Gerichtsbarkeit des ICC prägen – Rituale, Inszenierungen und architektonische Strukturen, die zwischen Transparenz und Zensur oszillieren.

ICC numerus überträgt diese recherchierten Strukturen in stenografische Notationen und transformiert sie in Klang. Die Notationen schreiben sich akustisch in die Architektur des Aquarium ein und eröffnen einen sensorischen Zugang. Im klanglichen Teil der Installation beginnt ein neuer Prozess – geformt durch die Präsenz der Besucher:innen.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague adjudicates core crimes under international criminal law. The audiovisual installation ICC numerus examines the performative processes that shape the ICC’s jurisdiction—rituals, stagings, and architectural structures that oscillate between transparency and censorship.

ICC numerus translates these researched structures into stenographic notations and transforms them into sound. The notations inscribe themselves acoustically into the architecture of Aquarium, opening up a sensory experience. In the sonic part of the installation, a new process begins—shaped by the presence of the visitors.
